The Homobiles @ The Homobiles' Holla-Gay Birthday Bash!

The Homobiles' Holla-Gay Birthday Bash!, Albany, CA

Looking for something to celebrate besides you-know-what? Presentiiiiiing the Homobiles’ Birthday Bash! Featuring a whole lotta folks whose end-of-December birthdays are always a surprise.

It’s the Homobiles’ lead singer Lynnee Breedlove’s actual birthday, the night before Pleeay’s drummer’s birthday, and one week before two more Homobiles — Fureigh and Blair Switch — have a shared birthday.

Dressing up is encouraged but not required. (You define what “dressing up” means to you.) Come party with the Homobiles, Middle-Aged Queers, and Pleeay. Ballet punks, bubble machines, brand spankin’ new songs… it’ll be a night to remember.

Dubbed “the Bay’s mainstay queer party punk supergroup” by the East Bay Express, the Homobiles are Lynn Breedlove (of the groundbreaking punk band Tribe 8) on lead vocals, Fureigh (Middle-Aged Queers, ex-The Shondes) on guitar and vocals, powerhouse Blair Switch on bass, and KB Boyce (ex-NastyFacts, cofounder of QTPOC arts organization Queer Rebels) on drums.
The Homobiles have been featured at the New York Live Arts Festival (curated by Mx. Justin Vivian Bond), opened for queercore legends Pansy Division and Team Dresch, and been the subjects of a documentary ("Spacecars and Babes," filmed in Austin during their spring 2017 tour). The anti-fascist music video for their song Homo Safe has screened at film festivals around the world.

With a live show that’s been described as “feeling like I’d mainlined joy” (Razorcake), Middle-Aged Queers are a Bay Area supergroup of seasoned punks — ex-members of the Cost (Lookout Records), Fang (Boner Records), the Insaints (Maximumrocknroll Records), and the Shondes (Exotic Fever Records) — on a mission to make punk rock gay again. Since 2019, they’ve soaked stages from coast to coast to Canada, including appearances at Gainesville’s Fest, Montreal’s Pouzza Fest, Punk Rock Bowling, and more.

Pleeay is a band of friends from San Francisco who invite EVERY BODY to live loudly with compassion. Authenticity is the key for this non-binary-fronted gaggle of weirdos. They lovingly share the stage with dancers Leez and friends.

Pleeay draws inspiration from a wide range of genres including punk (Crass, Nina Hagen, Death), funk (Prince, ESG), and art music (Kate Bush, Bjork). Their goal is to inspire folks to resist the call to conform, choose consciousness over convenience, and live loudly with compassion.
